Hi. I have just installed the full retail version of Soldner.
It installed fine, but will not run.
I get an error message saying "Please insert original CD/DVD into drive".

The cd is in the drive and I have just installed from it.

Has anyone got any ideas?

which keyboard settings do you use? and is the key all numbers or also letters? and if so maybe caps lock was on?

(I don't have retail version yet)

Doesnt even get that far. It didnt ask me for a key during install.

The key is encrypted on the CD, so the game won't ask for it. Maybe your cd is buggered, or your cd drive doesn't like it? some drives in the past have had issues with certain types of copy protection.

I have a CD key in the case, under the CD on a sticker. It hasnt asked me for that yet.

I think you are right it must be something to do with the copy protection. The other 6 million or so games I have install and run fine in my drive.

Try returning the disc to the shop and try another, or wait for an official response here, the devs do read these forums, so they should read this thread next time they are on. Try PMing Plex or Udett for a more direct response.

Hi!

The CD-Key is printed in the first extradition of SSW on the Dogtag.

The character set (Font) of that on the Dogtag is, is the same like that in the CD-Key petition in the game.

The Key consists of 20 alphanumeric signs and sees follows how from:

xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx

If there is trotzdessen problems with the CD-Key petition, write please an enamel to Plex@WingSimulations.com. Please in the enamels describe the problem and name the first ten signs of the CD Keys.

No one of JoWooD or Wings simulation will ask you ever about your komplettenCD-Key

When I said "return it", I meant to exchange for another copy of Soldner, to see if it is the specific disc, but try what Demolitionman suggested too.

maybe if you....

update your motherboard drivers and firmware (maybe via hyperion or 4 in 1 drivers)

uninstall alcohol 120% cd writing software.
(the software is designed not to function on systems running virtual drives. it's pretty hit or miss, and disables many people for having older MB drivers, while allowing many others to run fine with virtual drives such as daemon tools, nero and alcohol)





this a common problem with safedisc CP (and maybe some others)

(nice to see plex and crew paid attention to my thread about beta testing the CP. too late now.)

plex. you might want to prepare a sticky with links to motherboard driver downloads. via and nvidia are the two big ones.

I am not about to update any drivers. My system plays EVE, Planetside, ut2k4 and the new hitman game fine.

I have also seen some information redarding cd copy protection and certains programs. I deinstalled all my cd burner software and all my vritual drive software and it still didnt work.

I support baff, certain copy protection apps have trouble with virtual drive systems like Alcohol or CloneCD. Also make sure your firmware is fully up to date, because if one game starts causing trouble you can be damn sure that there will be many more.

->PS: As for the links to drivers for the vid cards you only need two: www.nvidia.com & www.ati.com simple like that.

Some CD drives seem to make problems.

Anyway: the dogtag isn't in the international versions, only in the german one. That's what Plex said. I got it and it's nice.

And Dusty: you have to enter a CD key the first time any part of the game goes online (Patcher, Game whatever)

are its probally cuse of the Copy Protection on the CD Splinter Cell PT alos have this problem (when you try to run it in a CD burner or some thing)

im having the same problems apart from ive actually played the game i then up dated the windows service pack and da da it aint working,,,,,,,ive got no virt drive and im using it off of a dvd rewriter

update your drivers or take the game back.
if you want it to work, you don't have the choice.

ko try the latest motherboard drivers, and latest dvd writer drivers for your computer please.

what dvd writing software are you using please?




don't forget to disable any anti virus before updateing your drivers or direct x

i sorted it (on my pc) when it says about the cd protection restart comp take out soldner when your on desktop reinsert the cd and click the start game tab it works for me

Hi. Just thought I would give everyone a quick status update on my Soldner progress.

I have had the game 3-4 days now.

I have installed the latest nvidia unified driver package with its IDE drivers.

I have deinstalled my AV.
I have deinstalled my firewall.

I have deinstalled Alcohol xxx%.
I have deinstalled Demon Tools.

I have deinstalled most of the cd burning software I had installed except the packages that I require.

I have reinstalled the game about 8 times now.

Still I get "Please insert the Original Soldner CD/DVD".

I got demon tools and alcohol 120% and it works fine. Which brand CD/DVD player do you have?

I have a plextor CD/DVD reader.
A plextor CD writer and a DVD burner that i think is also plextor.
(I am at work now so cannot check)

I have tried installing from all three.

my next guess then, is that the CP is not designed for people with three drives, perhaps it is confusing it into thinking too many drives = virtual drive.

OK i will try and disconnect my DVD burner tonight and see if that makes a difference.

I also have an EXTERNAL hardisk and two mapped network shares that also show up as "drives" so i expect they may bork the CP as well.

Hi. I disconnected my DVD burner and this didnt seem to work either.

I have managed to play the game now, but only by circumnavigating the copy protection by using a crack.

I dont like doing this, but its the only way I get to play the game.

Before anybody asks me, no I am not posting the link here.

I had the same problem, im using window xp. I found you can run the game if you run it in window 2000 compatiablity mode.

Puh I'm going to get my orderded Soldner right now and I have almost everithing you meansioned above EggBoy :(
I really hope I'll get it to work right away.
I hope you fix it and tells us what's wrong...
